I recently began to use Twitter. Some of you may already use this program, but for those who are still out of the twitter loop, I’ll fill you in. It’s a program where you just update your status, like on facebook, but that’s it. And you can “follow” other people, and others can follow you. It sounds a bit like stalking, and in a way it kinda is. Your status is called a “tweet” for those not in the know.I signed up to use the program a long time ago, but never really understood what it was for. I recently went back to it and found out that celebrities are on there. Yes, famous people can twitter too. It’s interesting to check out what Michael Ian Black and Rainn Wilson have to say now and again. They’ve always got something funny or thought-provoking to tweet about. And Stephen Fry is a famous tweeter and has a huge following.
There are so many people on this social network and I’ve only just started using it, so I haven’t gotten a chance to fully enjoy it. My first goal as a tweeter is to somehow entice a celebrity to reply to one of my tweets. I know that’s a stretch, and it seems like such a stupid and futile goal. But I am just curious to see if I sound interesting to people who don’t already know me from my everyday life. I have yet to accomplish this goal.
I think everyone should at least try out this site. It’s quite like facebook in a way. And your tweets are limited to 140 characters. It’s almost a game to see what you can write in such a short amount of space that would be of any interest to someone else. It’s been a good test of my abilities, as I tend to write way too much. It’s almost like abstract writing, but on an even smaller scale. Abstract of an abstract.
So that’s what I’ve been up to recently, in addition to a lot of other things, which I’ll be sure to write more about soon. If anyone wants to follow me, I’ll be on twitter (twitter.com/hypatia77).
