I have not written for quite some time. And there are a few good reasons for this. I am pregnant, for one. And I totally messed with the design of this blog. Both reasons have gotten in my way of presenting to you some quite interesting blog posts, which I hope to remedy now.

As you can see, the blog has changed a bit. I have been fiddling with a new design for months, tweaking it and refining it. It is still not entirely what I want, but it will have to do for now. I really just want to write stuff. And now I can.

I’ve been preoccupied lately with knitting. And I’ve been designing my own patterns. It’s a lot of fun to make something that you created, from scratch. Especially when other people like it as well. I plan on selling patterns on ravelry someday, but for now I’m sticking to giving them out for free, to see how well they do. I’ve gotten quite a good response to a pattern I put up for a red scarf that I made, inspired by the scarf worn by Amy Pond in the science fiction series “Doctor Who.” I’m working on another scarf now, a purple one, inspired by a scarf I saw on the Anthropologie website. I’m at the very end of the scarf now, so I really want to finish it.

Other than knitting, I’ve been doing a lot of genealogy research. Mostly about people I don’t even know, in other people’s families. I have quite the romantic tale about one person I’m trying to find information about, but I will save his story for another day. I have to scan in some photos first before I write about him. His story came about from some old photographs I found at the flea market, and a few notes that he scribbled on the back.

I have lots on my mind these days, baby and otherwise. I will try to write when I can, but no promises. Stay tuned.
