The past few weeks I’ve been busy knitting and designing. I’ve had more time on my hands to sit and think about my knitting projects and how to create patterns others will actually want to knit.

My latest creation is Winter Viking, a hat I made for a friend. I was inspired to create a hat using cable patterns found in Elsebeth Lavold’s Viking pattern book.

I’m currently working on some wrist warmers that also feature a cabled lattice pattern from the same book. I’m knitting them in a lush green bamboo yarn by Patons that is super soft. I find wrist warmers easy to make but the thumbs can be tricky. Wish I could find a way to make thumbs that didn’t involve having to go back after the piece is done to pick up stitches.

I will post pictures soon of my creations. The Viking hat pattern is currently for sale on Ravelry.
